Our friends Helena Garcia, Cecy Meade and Israel Sanchez are exhibiting at the Rivet starting today. The Rivet is a Designer Toy & Art Gallery located in the Short North arts district of Columbus, Ohio. They carry a variety of limited edition collectible designer vinyl toys, DIY art toys, and plush, in addition to presenting excellent works of original art and prints by pop-surreal, lowbrow, and underground artists. A new art show opens on the first Saturday of each month in conjunction with the Short North’s monthly Gallery Hop event.

Raised in South Florida with a BFA in Illustration from Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Helena enjoys creating designs and paintings consisting of whimsical characters. These include animals to little girls with funny haircuts and everything in between. Her inspirations come from Japanese aesthetics, cartoons from the 60′s and vintage design. In her spare time she enjoys eating desserts, napping with her chihuahua, Kiko and watching movies.

At this moment Cecy is working as a freelance illustrator and making personal projects. With a love to create characters and make up stories about them, gets inspired by many many things mainly by music.
Israel Sanchez – israelsanchez.com
Israel Sanchez lives and paints in La Habra, California. He gets inspiration from good stories, his friends, and the nature around him. When he’s not working he likes to be camping at a national park.Israel is currently illustrating his first book for Scholastic called “The Dinosaur Tooth Fairy” written by Martha Brockenbrough, it is due out in 2012.
