Written by on Sep 1, 2011 in Interviews | 2 Comments

Yuhsuan Huang is a talented freelance illustrator from Taiwan. Her whimsical characters interesting technique are things that really make me smile. I loved her work since the first time I discovered on Facebook a while ago.

I could not avoid the temptation to interview her for our magazine, and here you have her kind answers:

Where are you from:

I am from Taiwan.

Before starting a project:

I’ll arrange the whole atmosphere and then do some rough sketches

First job as an illustrator:

A children magazine.

Craziest thing you’ve done during a project:

I wiped different kinds of jam on people’s faces (including me) and then took photos. The theme of this project was about the relationship between food and human society.

Tunes while working:

Britpop, Fusion Jazz, movie soundtracks.

Favorite place on earth:

Anywhere comfortable.

Last object you bought:

A big and durable bag suited for my incoming travel.

If you illustrate a book, what would the title be:

I’m not sure….But it will be a lovely story about animals.

Technology or handmade:

Both. But if I use digital tools, I’ll try to make them looks like handmade.

Favorite toy as a kid:

Stuffed animals. Honestly speaking, I am still very fond of them and keep buying new ones.

Coffee or Tea:

Coffee, absolutely coffee. My favorite is Latte Coffee or black coffee.

Favorite Blogs:

Design Sponge, Seven Impossible Things Before Breakfast.

Candyman:

Ujikintoki (It is a Japanese dessert mixed with red bean and green tea ice cream)

 Heroes:

There are many great artists I admire. But if I need to choose one, I’ll choose Shaun Tan.

Words of advice:

Love what you do, do what you love.
